Advantages of an American brass coupling
The appearance of a coupling with a union nut as a connecting node of the pipeline (in everyday life - “American” or simply “American”) represents a certain breakthrough in connections after conventional threaded drives . Despite the fact that threaded shackles with a lock nut are still used by plumbers when organizing heating and water supply lines, these connections are still inferior to the American shackle in terms of quick installation and ease of maintenance. The main inconveniences are the requirement to ensure maximum coaxiality of the connected pipes (which is quite rare) and the need to use tow (flax) impregnated with drying oil or sealants as a sealant. And if they fought with alignment by straightening the pipe and tightening it with a gas wrench, then tow with paint has forever remained a symbol of a master plumber despite the appearance of more modern sealing materials (FUM tapes, sealing threads and sealing compounds). The biggest problem for the installers was the devices that had to be periodically removed (dismantled) for maintenance - various filters, radiators, etc. Here, to dismantle the connection of the old plumbing, plumbers often used blowtorches or welding torches, which were bulky and dangerous to use due to the presence of an open flame. Therefore, “American” couplings, which can now be bought at any hardware store, turned out to be an ideal solution to the problem of line alignment due to the conical connecting surface with a rubber sealing ring, which makes it possible to obtain a tight connection with some deviation of the axes of the pipelines. It was also a big plus that no additional sealing materials are needed to seal the coupling itself (with the exception of the threads themselves, which are packed only once during the initial installation) and brass is not subject to corrosion compared to steel. The material for the manufacture of "American" couplings, as a rule, is used brass with or without galvanized coating, less often - stainless steel. Our company produces brass direct connections - "American" with nominal bore diameters of 15, 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm, as well as angled connections DN 15, 20, 25 and 32 mm (in the future - other diameters), which you can buy in our representative offices in Kiev , Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk .
