The saw frame has a certain inclination relative to the vertical plane (20-40°) so that the blade plane is vertical in the sawing zone, while the blade is rotated to the vertical by 70-50° thanks to the guide bearings mounted on the brackets. These brackets have the ability to move along their guide: they are moved and extended so that the free part of the band blade matches the width of the part being cut. Bimetal band saws are widely used for sawing metal blanks: their base is softer and more springy, and cutters made of hard high-speed steel are welded on the tips of the teeth.

With the help of such band saws, it is possible to perform not only cross cutting, but also oblique, at angles up to 45 °. With these band saws, the horizontal frame with the running blade is fed along the vertical columns by a hydraulic system. The speed of the longitudinal movement of the saw is regulated either stepwise or steplessly using an electronic frequency converter. For most models, the web tension is carried out using hydraulics, in addition, there are electronic jamming / slipping / web break control systems with subsequent machine shutdown.
