Twisted and bent steel bends are classic pipeline parts for changing the direction (turning) of the main line at a right angle. The main feature of steeply bent bends and the difference from ordinary bent bends is the small radius of the pipe turn, which makes it possible to obtain smaller dimensions of nodes and junctions of pipelines during their construction. The production of a curved bend (elbow) is carried out by induction heating of a billet of a seamless pipe, followed by its broach along a special profile (“horn”) made of high-strength steel. After that, the workpiece is corrected in the matrix by a press to give a uniform cylindrical shape along the entire length of the outlet and the edges are trimmed at an angle of 90 degrees. The production of bent bends is carried out by the method of cold bending of pipes on rollers, which causes a larger turning radius than that of forged bends, as well as the impossibility of producing bent bends of large diameters.
